Set in what looks like a steampunk world, Gestalt: Steam & Cinder was shown off at the Guerilla Collective today. The beautiful artstyle and fantastic animations give the game a lot of style and really enhance the bits of actions they showed off. You play as Alatheia, as she finds herself racing to discover the secrets of Canaan, a huge steampunk city shown off in the trailer. Gestalt: Steam & Cinder evokes the 32-bit era of pixel art with highly-detailed character models and realistic-looking backgrounds. The core game is an action-platformer with both sword-slashing. Inspired by 16 and 32-bit classics, Gestalt: Steam & Cinder fuses tight 2D platforming and exhilarating combat with an engrossing narrative filled with conspiracy-laden intrigue, eccentric NPCs, dynamic side quests, and choice-driven dialogue. In short, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder is a Metroidvania taking place in a world of rusting metal, forests of pipes, hanging boilers suspended by oversized chains, and many, many mechanical threats.
